A Letter

Dear Target Employees,

You work at my Happy Place. Your store smells so nice, and everything is so inviting, from the dollar spot to the cafe. But sometimes, well, you need a little work. For example, I don't like it when you comment on what I am buying. Let's just talk about today's visit for further illustration. I came to Target with only one thing on my list: chips. I needed a big bag full of little bags to pack in school lunches and knew they were on sale this week. Plus, I had a coupon. While walking past the registers, I discovered you had my favorite fall treat: Hershey's Pumpkin Spice Kisses. And, bonus, they were 2 for $5. I put six in my cart. Upon checking out with 7 junk food items, the cashier remarked on my buying Halloween candy so early. To that, I say, if you don't want me to buy it, don't put it out. But that's not the point of this letter. I told her that they were my favorites and that they don't last long, so I was stocking up. She stopped what she was doing, bag of kisses in hand, looked at me, and in a shocked voice said: "All of these are for YOU?"

Now, Target employees, I am sure in your training you were not taught to judge what one buys. Seriously, I know I'm a bit "thicker 'round the middle," but I am not capable of eating 6 bags of kisses, no matter how delicious, at once. I am not capable of eating even one bag in one sitting. So please, keep your comments to yourself.

Sincerely,
Mrs. O'Kigin

And can you add that we are not supposed to look for them: they should be around the store, easily found ;-)

Your letter is so timely. Did you know that there was a full page in USA Today, yesterday, because shoppers were invited to write to Target and give them some feedback. You should mail this to corporate because one of the things they are focusing on is how their cashiers treat their "guests".

Amen! Two weeks ago a Target employee wouldn't let me use a Target coupon because my item didn't match the picture on the coupon. Okay, I was trying to buy cereal and didn't want regular Cheerios (don't get me wrong, like them, but was in the mood for something else). The coupon read that it was for ANY General Mills product, but the picture was for the yellow box of Cheerios. Hmmm.

Hey at least you have Target! I get target.com that only ships a fraction of their items to APO's!

I love this letter. People shouldn't say anything about what you buy.

First - are you sure it wasn't one of their 'challenged' employees?

Second - I could eat all six bags of kisses and am proud of it - helps me run faster :)
