Rainy Day and Coughing

Today is a rainy day. The sky is a pretty grey which makes the fall leaves seem all the more colorful. I have had good cuddles from Ginger today. She's not feeling so hot, but she's not so sick she's miserable. She has been content to just sit, which is nice every once and a while. Patch, on the other hand, has a nasty cough. I've been giving him some cough medicine I had in the cabinet. It works wonders and makes me a little mad that they don't sell it any more.

Last night I taught a Relief Society class on holiday gift giving. While I had a lot of ideas and resources to share, my main focus was on having a Mary Christmas, as opposed to a Martha Christmas. Martha, like me at times, got completely stressed and lost sight of the really important things in life. Mary took time to listen to the Savior, which Jesus referred to as "needful." I think about this passage every Christmas, trying to put into perspective what is "needful" so that I am not troubled, like Martha. Part of that process for me is simplifying what I give to others. One of my favorite sites that has loads of ideas is Our Best Bites. Go here if you want some great ideas and recipes.

Today's Gratitude: I have a warm home on this rainy day with a family to fill it. I am blessed.

Hope your kids feel better soon.

We all want a quiet organized Christmas and always end up running everywhere trying to make everything perfect ( and forgetting what is important: just being together ;-) )

Might I say that I love your graitude message at the end of the post. Sorry about Patch's cough. Can you ask the pharmacist for those previously over the counter meds, or are they all off the market? Maybe the guy in the alley who sells marijuana has a little Triaminic.

hope she feels better soon...i have always been a little guilty of slightly enjoying it when they were sick, only a little, because they would just sit or cuddle and be content.

What a lovely blog! I really like your idea to have a "Mary" xmas. I'm going to mention that to my pastor.

don't you just hate it when kids are sick? I'm still petrified of the day that Henry comes down with his first real cold! :( Hope your little ones get better soon...
