A Few Thoughts

We are sick here. So very sick. Fevers, coughs, aches, and pains. And tonight, I feel like I have a scratch in the back of my throat. I've even coughed a few times today. I am worried. When mama goes down, the whole world falls apart. I've taken an airborne today, but I think it might have been a little too late. So as I've been administering chewable medication to the school-age and younger set around here, my mind has been wandering.

I've thought about my two study abroad trips to England. How lucky was I? I'd like to go back. Someday.

I've thought about how much I love to read. I just finished Death Comes to Pemberley. You must check it out. And when you do, make sure you picture Colonel Fitzwilliam from the BBC version, and not from the more recent Hollywood film. He was not so handsome in the latter.

Sewing on a deadline is very stressful, especially when you have sick kids. Heck, doing anything on a deadline is stressful with illness in the home.

New Girl is the funniest show on TV. It's even funnier than Modern Family.

Kids wait to throw up until you're on your own. It's true. As soon as Curly leaves the house, we've got barf everywhere. When he comes home, they're fine. I don't know.

A Diet Coke and  a cookie at the end of a rough day is like the food of the gods.

Anyone have a cookie?

Oh, I'm sorry to hear you all are sick! I hope you don't get it. My husband HAS to go to work, so even if I have the flu with three little ones at home, he's out the door by 7. I hope you have someone who can come help out. When my kids are sick, I keep Target bags all over the house. They tend to be sturdier and don't have holes usually. I keep a stash in my minivan, too, for throw up emergencies. My kids are trained to ask for a barf bag. Good luck!

Oh so sorry to hear about that! We've got it here, too. ear infections, strep, and today's newest malady hand, foot, and mouth disease. Seriously?!! Have you ever had that in your house? I'll spare you the details. Anyway, drink lots of hot tea (ok, Diet Coke) and get some sleep! :)

Oh shoot -- I wish I were there, I'd make you a whole batch of cookies. Keep your eye on the prize lil' girl -- only 27-ish more days until your little escape. (Ooohh, I've been having Anglophile moments too -- I'm thinking I need to make a Union Jack quilt!)

You need a throat culture. As your mom who currently has compromised immune system, I am avoiding your house like the, well, plague.

I've looked and looked at this book, you may have just pushed me over the edge :)
I'm reading the "Season's Of Grace" series by Beverly Lewis. I can't put them down 5 days and I'm nearly done with book 2.

This is weird, but I was thinking about your study abroad, too, while my sickies were watching "Alice in Wonderland" yesterday.

I hope you are all well on the road to recovery now. My hubby travels a bit for work so there is always a high probability of sickness when he is away (higher than normal, murphy's law and all). Enjoy your Diet Coke.
