Life with Baby

Most of us love Red. Or at least, really like her. Patch is struggling. The other day he asked when her mom was coming to get her. I think he was hoping she would be a sister like Flower, and not like Mini-me. He does not like it when Curly holds her, and when I am nursing is when he really needs to sit on my lap. It makes the day interesting, to say the least.
Flower is coming back tomorrow afternoon to celebrate Mini-me's birthday, and then she'll be at her mom's for the rest of the holiday. Red will practically be on solid food by the time she comes home again.
We are very excited for Christmas around here. Patch still prays nightly that Santa Claus will bring him Cars. Mini-me thinks she has all her presents figured out (and don't tell her this, but she does) I told Flower that if she shook any more boxes, she was likely to break something very rare and expensive. Red doesn't really care. Maybe next year.

Baby Sister

Cate is easy to love. The kids fight over who gets to hold her. I also have pics of Flower holding her, but I can't find the camera to upload them to the computer.

Home

We are home. Cate and Curly are sleeping peacefully, and I am having a snack with Mini-me. In a few days I will try to think of a clever blog alias for our baby. Right now, I am a little too tired.

DONE!

We waited almost an hour for the doctor who got called away to an emergency operation. Jana couldn't wait (sound familiar?) so she pushed out Catelyn Jeanne Kigin in about 15 minutes. At 10:02pm she came out weighing 8lbs 4oz and sporting a full set of RED HAIR! Time to go play with the baby!!!!!!!!

I think it's almost time . . .

This is what I woke up to about five minutes ago . . . and Jana has always been pretty accurate. So it should be soon!!!

All is calm . . .

Things have seemed to slow down considerably, but that may just be because Jana is now comfortable, happy, and taking a nap! Beyond her senses, her body is certainly working just as hard as before, but you wouldn't know it from looking at her! The last look at her progress was about 5pm. She has had contractions increase to one every 90 seconds. Who knows? At this rate that baby may fall out in her sleep! Will update when we know where she stands . . .
Here we go . . . Jana has been laboring most of the day to get into hard labor. A couple things pushed her to where we are now--a failed attempt at a manual opening, administration of some medicine (not petosin), and her water breaking--and now she's laboring on her own. Dilated to about two centimeters a couple hours ago, with contractions about three to four minutes apart now. The anesthesiologist is on the way in to do the epidural. Jana is wanting to say something . . . She says: "Ow!" My cue to go.

Hijacked!

While the queen is in the hospital (even though she will have computer access) I, Curly, will be blogging on her page. Today is the day--we hope. She is at the hospital, in the room, hooked up to the IV and computer, and resting peacefully. Induction should begin momentarily--so much for the peaceful part. I will post pictures and information as soon as the baby is born, so check back!

A List

Here is a list of things that are hard to do when in a delicate condition:

  1. Tie your shoes. Luckily, I can still fit into all my shoes, as I do not have swollen ankles this time around. But, I have to wear slip-ons, as I cannot tie.
  2. Bend over to pick something up. Not only can you not bend, but your lovely elastic waisted pants will fall down.
  3. Chase your 3 year old.
  4. Walk up the stairs without being winded.
  5. Parallel parking. Seriously? Twisting?
  6. Have a coherent thought.
  7. Carrying a laundry basket.
  8. Changing the sheets on a bunk bed.
  9. Grocery shop without a list. But, that ties into #6.
  10. Stand, sit, or lie down for a lengthy amount of time. Position switching is a must.

I am so ready to be done! The 16th seems like a long time from now.

Let it Snow

This is what happens when you let a 3 year old decorate the tree -- all the ornaments end up on the same few branches near the bottom. He was so proud of himself, though!

Today we are expecting a snow storm. It's been coming down for about an hour and is just starting to stick. The flakes are big and puffy, just the kind of wet east coast storm that I love. I don't have anywhere I have to be this afternoon/evening, so we can just watch Christmas movies and drink hot cocoa. It's the perfect Saturday!
